I had not planned on writing a blog post today but because of yesterday’s major news on the Disney Parks Blog, I felt it was necessary to write a short one. In case you did not see on the Disney Parks Blog or on Facebook or Twitter, Disney officially posted that Maelstrom is closing soon so that a new Frozen attraction can open in Norway.
Here is my sister with the troll in the Norway pavilion. I like taking pictures with this troll more than I ever liked riding Maelstrom. So, I am happy Maelstrom will be replaced by Anna, Elsa, and of course Olaf. I am wondering if the current track of the ride will stay the same with adjustments made to the scenery and storyline. Or if the whole ride will be changed. I would think they would need to change the part where the boat almost goes backwards because I am not sure how that would fit in with the Frozen storyline. But, I also do not know how much space the ride takes up and what the Imagineers will be dealing with in terms of layout and size.
I am glad this announcement was made so that the speculation can stop. I am only slightly disappointed I will not get a chance to ride Maelstrom before it is turned into Arendelle.
