Worldly Wednesday: Glennfinnan

IMG_0911In the Highlands of Scotland is an area called Glennfinnan.  We drove through on our way back to Edinburgh from a few days spent in the Isle of Skye.  It was a beautiful spot to stop and admire the beautiful Scottish landscape.  This is also where Warner Brothers filmed the classic Harry Potter scene of the Hogwarts train riding across the bridge on its way to the school.  You can see the bridge in the distance in the second picture.  We had to hike for about five minutes to get to the spot where I took these photos but it was well worth it.  A gift shop and restrooms are located at the bottom of the small hill since many tourists stop here.  The gift shop even sells Harry Potter memorabilia.  But, I chose to buy Dog Shaped Shortbread Cookies instead. IMG_0912

Those dog shaped cookies were Scottish Terriers! The same breed that FDR’s Fala was.

  2. Were you to any Highland games while you were in Scotland?

    • Unfortunately we did not go to any Highland Games while we were there. We packed a lot into the trip but Highland Games was not one of the things. Hopefully I can go back and see some one day!

  3. Wow I didn’t know the HP scene was filmed here. It’s so pretty! 🙂
